3 Healthy Homemade Dips to Try in Your Own Kitchen

Although here at Prinos Farm&Deli we stock a wide range of dips at our premium supermarkets across Cyprus, there are also plenty of great recipes that can be made at home. Not only are these easy dips great to serve to friends, they also make for a perfect healthy mid-day snack or even a light dinner.

And one of the best things about making your own homemade dips is experimenting with the ingredients. Not only will you be sure that there are no nasty preservatives and refined sugars, but also you can adjust the quantities to exactly suit your personal taste. So none of these recipes need to be followed too strictly. In fact, deviate as much as your imagination allows, and let us know the results!

  • Beetroot Hummus

INGREDIENTS

 METHOD

  1. First dice and roast the beetroot in the oven for around 20 minutes
  2. Now put all the ingredients in a blender and mix until smooth.
  3. Add extra salt, spices or lemon according to taste.
  4. Serve in a bowl with a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of cayenne pepper

 

  • French Onion Dip

INGREDIENTS

METHOD

  1. Add the garlic cloves, salt and onion powder to pestle and mortar and mix together until a paste forms.
  2. Now in a small bowl mix all the rest of ingredients together with the paste and the sour cream.
  3. Season to taste then refrigerate for at least an hour before serving to allow the flavours to bond.

 

  • Guacamole

INGREDIENTS

 METHOD

  1. Cut and mash the ripe avocadoes together in a bowl.
  2. Next, dice the onion finely, then chop the tomato and add both to the bowl with the avocado.
  3. Now just add the remains of the ingredients to taste and serve up with tortilla chips.

  • Bean Dip

INGREDIENTS

METHOD

  1. In a blender, mix the drained beans together with the rest of the ingredients apart from the grated cheese.
  2. Once the mixture is smooth, add in the cheese and pulse for another 5-10 seconds.
  3. Serve with an added drizzle of lime juice and enjoy with fajitas or nachos.
